We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of you for your understanding and cooperation to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Government of Okinawa Prefecture has announced its request “a response period to prevent the spread of the infection and to continue socio-economic activities (Okinawa Prefecture Response Policy (in Japanese)” which will apply from Saturday, January 14. We ask you to check and comply with it.

This is the revised version to the previous policy which was announced as of December 22, and the changes are as follows:

1. Consider getting a flu shot
2. Refrain from contacting people during a treatment period
  (1) In case of COVID-19, 7 days must pass from the day when you are tested positive or a specimen collection date, and 24 hours must have passed since relief.
  (2) In case of flu, it is said that you shed the virus for 3 to 7 days, thus you must be careful not to spread it to others.
3. Establish the Okinawa Prefecture Antigen Test Center for Children with Fever and Minor illnesses as a night-time testing service on Sunday and holidays (5pm to 8pm on January 15, 22, and 29).

The number of newly infected people in Okinawa has been increasing since the end of last year, and there are days when it exceeds more than 2,000. We ask all students and faculty and staff members to prepare for home treatment (in Japanese), and confirm how to see a doctor and how to contact the University.

Okinawa Prefecture’s alert level is 2 (early stage of infection), please continue to take prevention measures for COVID-19.
