We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of you for your understanding and cooperation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Government of Okinawa Prefecture has announced its request for the period from Friday, April 1 to Thursday, April 28 for a response period to prevent re-spread of the infection and to continue socio-economic activities (Okinawa Prefecture Response Policy), and we ask that you check and comply with the policy.

The University asks that you continue to take the same basic infection control measures as before, and since this is the time of year when events and the flow of people increase, we especially ask that you observe your health on a daily basis, refrain from going out when you are not feeling well and receive medical attention (or have a checkup).

In addition, please note that the University has established a "Contact system for students, faculty, and staff members who have contracted coronavirus infection.”

The Omicron variant is currently the mainstay of coronavirus infection and is characterized by a shorter incubation period and shorter onset interval compared to conventional alpha and delta strains. As a result, identification of persons in close contact and behavioral restrictions has been revised nationwide, and in Okinawa Prefecture, the "Okinawa Prefecture's Approach to Identification of Persons in Close Contact and Behavioral Restrictions in Response to the Omicron Strain" was posted on March 24. We ask that all students, faculty and staff members of the University take the following actions.

※This information is based on the characteristics of the Omicron variant, and it is not known at this time whether it can be adapted to other mutant strains.
※High-risk behaviors include contact with the elderly or people with underlying medical conditions, visits to facilities where these people reside, and participation in eating and drinking or large-scale events where an unspecified number of people gather.
