Responses of the University to the countermeasures taken by the Okinawa Prefectural Government to balance the prevention of COVID-19 rebound and economic activities (Okinawa Prefecture policy)

October 29, 2021

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff Members:

Risk Management Headquarters
(for COVID-19 Infection Control)
University of the Ryukyus

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of you for your understanding and cooperation to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On October 28, the Okinawa Prefectural Government announced “Rebound prevention and economic activity balance period (Okinawa Prefecture policy),” starting on November 1.? According to the policy, we will make changes of the university’s countermeasures as follows:

Because the number of infections in Okinawa has been decreased after the period of state of emergency and as the result of improvement of awareness about infectious disease countermeasures and vaccination, we have made some changes with hope, by bringing back interactions on campus, that students, who were under infectious disease countermeasures restrictions, will have campus life as we used to have before the pandemic.

We would like to ask you to continue to follow the prevention measures against infection based on the Okinawa Prefecture Policy, and engage in studying, teaching and research activities. Your understanding and cooperation would be appreciated.

〇The level for restriction on activities on campus will be changed to “1” on November 1 (Mon).
For contents of activities, please refer to “Guideline for restrictions on activities for preventing the spread of COVID-19” (available on the university website).

〇Supplement
(1)Lectures
For faculty members/lecturers in charge, please conduct lectures based on the guideline for “Level 1” in “Guideline for Restrictions on Activities (revised on October 29, 2021)” and inform students of implementation of lectures by appropriate means.
For students, in case you are unable to attend a lecture which is conducted the way specified by a faculty member/lecturer, please consult with her/him in advance.

(2) Extracurricular activities
We will send the notice “Extracurricular activities according to prevention measures against COVID-19 infection (dated on October 29, 2021)” to representatives and advisors of clubs/circles. Please engage in activities based on the notice.

(3) Working arrangement for staff members
The notice “Working arrangement for staff members (updated on September 30)” will be abolished on October 31 (Sun).
